Development Strategist in Social Sustainability
The Municipal Executive Administration is one of seven administrations in Östersund Municipality. The Municipal Executive Administration works on behalf of the Municipal Executive Board with issues concerning the overall development, financial position, and long-term planning of the municipality. Within the administration, matters are prepared for decision by the Municipal Executive Board. The Municipal Executive Administration also provides support to other administrations regarding finance, law and security, IT, communication, as well as personnel and work environment.

The Economy and Governance Sector consists of the units: Accounting, Finance, Sustainability, and Budget and Governance.
Your New Job
Östersund Municipality is seeking a driven, problem-solving, and goal-oriented Development Strategist to work with overarching and varied tasks within social sustainability.
As a Development Strategist, you will be part of a team, the Sustainability unit, with other development strategists in social sustainability and a coordinator for Sami courses and activities. The unit supports the development of social sustainability work in the municipality. The assignment includes strategic development, environmental monitoring, collaboration, and knowledge-enhancing initiatives. Through strategic work, the unit enables the integration of social sustainability efforts into operations. In addition to internal collaboration within the municipal organization, there is also cooperation with civil society and external organizations.
The position is a permanent role based in the Municipal Executive Administration, Sector for Economy and Governance, Sustainability unit.
Common Tasks
- Plan and follow up on work within social sustainability.
- Plan and implement training initiatives.
- Capture ideas, problems, and suggest improvements.
- Prepare investigations, analyses, and decision-making materials within the field of social sustainability.
- Develop, revise, and follow up on governing documents within social sustainability.
- Drive and coordinate development and improvement work within social sustainability.
- Participate in and lead projects and/or networks both internally and in collaboration with external actors.
- Collaborate with other administrations, authorities, civil society, and other external parties.
- Support politicians, the municipal executive group, administrative management, and operational managers in the field of social sustainability.
- Work both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues.
Your Competence
Requirements
- Academic degree deemed relevant by the employer.
- Practical experience working with development issues.
- Experience working in a politically governed organization.
- Very good ability to communicate in speech and writing.
Meritorious
- Competence in the Sami area is meritorious.
